Purpose: accelerated soil warming in spring.

Mechanism: transmits sunlight → soil heats up quickly, but weeds also germinate.
Retains moisture — reduces watering by up to 40% (especially in combination with a tunnel/mini greenhouse).

Soil: warms up the fastest, ideal for early crops.
Crops: early potatoes, cucurbits, early vegetables.
Seasonality: mainly spring use — before transplanting seedlings or to speed up the start of the growing season.

Pros:

• soil warms up 2–3 weeks earlier;

• accelerates vegetation start and increases yield.

Cons: does not block weeds (requires additional herbicide or mechanical treatment).
